About Slash and Burn

I live in a small city on the south east coast of Africa, so I write mostly from that parochial perpective.

“Chitemene” is the Bemba word for the shifting, slash-and-burn agriculture practiced in the Central region of Zambia, where I was born and spent a large part of my childhood.
